Enid Symphony Center

The Enid Symphony Center — housed in the historic Enid Masonic Temple / Cole Building on the main downtown square — is the home of the Enid Symphony Orchestra, one of the longest-established orchestras in Oklahoma. The building dates from 1924 and is an imposing Classical Revival structure that dominates its block.

The symphony season runs from September through May, with a mix of classical and popular programmes. The venue also hosts theatrical productions and community events. Check the schedule if you are in town on a weekend — the quality of performance is consistently above what you might expect in a city this size.

A story
The Enid Masonic Temple, now the Symphony Center, was built in 1924 and is one of the more ambitious pieces of civic architecture on the Oklahoma plains. The Cole family, who made their fortune in oil and grain, donated extensively to its construction — the Enid story is inseparable from the relationship between agricultural wealth, civic pride, and the desire to build permanent institutions in a place that was a tent city just thirty years before.
