Lendonwood is a non-profit botanical garden of about eight acres, laid out as a series of themed gardens — a Japanese garden, an English terrace garden, a daylily garden, a fern dell — connected by winding paths. The plant collections are unexpectedly serious for a town this size: hundreds of rhododendrons and azaleas, more than five hundred daylily cultivars, and a strong showing of conifers.
Peak bloom is from late April through May. The gardens are open daily; donations are welcome. It is small enough to see in an hour and quiet enough that you will probably have it largely to yourself.
