The College of the Muscogee Nation is the tribally chartered community college on the eastern edge of town, founded in 2004 to serve students from the Muscogee Nation and other tribes across Oklahoma. The campus is compact and modern — low brick buildings around a central green — and not a tourist sight in itself, but worth knowing about.
The College hosts public lectures, Mvskoke language classes, ceremonial gatherings, and visiting artists from across Indian Country. If a visit lines up with the academic calendar, the events programme on the College's website is the best window onto contemporary Muscogee cultural life in Okmulgee.
