Wewoka Lake

A 500-acre reservoir about four miles north of town, built as the city water supply and now also used for fishing and small-boat recreation. The shoreline runs about ten miles around bays and shallow inlets — good for crappie, largemouth bass and catfish.

There's no swimming beach and facilities are basic: a couple of boat ramps, a few picnic tables, no rentals. Bring your own gear. If you have an hour to fill while passing through Wewoka and want to see something other than red brick and oil-boom storefronts, drive out here at dusk.
