Linn County has more than 30 covered wooden bridges, more than anywhere else in the western United States. They are scattered across the farmland east of Albany along the foothills of the Cascades, and the official Covered Bridge Tour route connects the best of them into a half-day or full-day drive through some of Oregon's most pleasant rural countryside.
The bridges vary in design and setting — some span fast-moving creeks in forested canyons, others cross placid streams through open meadows. Sankey Bridge, Hannah Bridge, and Weddle Bridge are among the most photogenic. The route is well-signed and the Albany Visitors Association provides a free map. Cycling the tour is feasible on the official scenic bikeway, though the distances are significant for casual riders.
