Old Chief Joseph Gravesite is a small but important Nez Perce site near the road to Wallowa Lake. It marks the grave of Tuekakas, known as Old Chief Joseph, father of the leader remembered for the 1877 Nez Perce War.
The visit is brief, but it belongs in any honest day around Joseph. The mountains and lake are beautiful; this place explains why the valley still carries a charge.
