Siletz Bay National Wildlife Refuge protects the estuary where river, tide, marsh, and coastal forest meet at the south end of Lincoln City. It is a quieter counterpoint to the beach strip, with chances to see waterbirds, raptors, seasonal migrants, and the shifting textures of mudflat and salt marsh.
The refuge is best for walkers, birders, and anyone who likes the Oregon coast when it slows down. Bring binoculars if you have them, watch the tide, and don't expect a big visitor complex. The reward is space, light, and a more ecological view of Lincoln City.
