Tillamook's most famous stop is a large, busy, well-run visitor centre attached to the dairy brand that put the town on the map. The self-guided tour is free and looks down into the cheese-making and packaging areas; the exhibits explain the local dairy industry without making you feel trapped in a sales pitch.
The real reason people stop is simpler: cheese samples, fried cheese curds, grilled cheese, and a serious ice-cream counter. It is touristy, yes, but it is also specific to the place and fun in the way a good factory visit should be.
