Pacific City is one of the few Oregon coast towns where dory boats still launch straight through the surf. The boats are flat-bottomed, practical, and deeply tied to local fishing culture; watching one land on the beach is far more memorable than another tidy marina.
There is no fixed show. Go early, keep out of the launch lane, and treat the fleet as working boats rather than entertainment.
