Roughlock Falls is a gentler, more layered waterfall than Bridal Veil, with clear water stepping through ledges and pools in a side canyon near Savoy. The short trail and viewing decks make it one of the most rewarding easy walks in the Spearfish area.
It is worth combining with nearby Spearfish Falls rather than treating either as a quick photo stop. In autumn, the mix of water, yellow leaves, and dark spruce is about as good as the northern Black Hills gets.
