Spirit Mound Historic Prairie

Spirit Mound Historic Prairie is a low hill that matters because the surrounding land is so open. Lewis and Clark climbed it in 1804 after hearing Native stories about the place, and today a walking trail leads through restored prairie toward wide views over the Great Plains and Missouri River country.

It is a short outing, but a good one: simple, exposed, and best in mild weather when the grass and sky can do their work.
