Lewis and Clark Recreation Area

Large state recreation area on Lewis and Clark Lake, with beaches, trails, marina, and boating.

Lewis and Clark Recreation Area is the outdoor anchor west of Yankton. It sits on Lewis and Clark Lake, the Missouri River reservoir behind Gavins Point Dam, and draws people for boating, swimming beaches, fishing, camping, and paved trails.

Even if you are not camping, it is the best place near town to get onto the water or stretch your legs with open views. Summer weekends are busy, so go early if you want quiet.
