Mead Museum

Local history museum in a 1909 building, with Lewis and Clark and Dakota exhibits.

The Mead Museum is Yankton's serious indoor stop. It occupies a 1909 building from the former state hospital campus and covers local and regional history across three floors.

The Lewis and Clark material, Dakota history, and the building itself make it more useful than a small-town collection of odds and ends. Pair it with the riverfront for a fuller sense of Yankton's place on the Missouri.
