Gatlinburg is in a dry county — or rather, it was until 2009, when the town voted to allow alcohol sales. The moonshine distillery business has boomed since, with Ole Smoky and Sugarlands both running tasting rooms on the main strip that draw long lines on weekends. The bar scene is relatively sedate by big-city standards; this is a family vacation town, and it shows.
