Balter Beerworks is Knoxville's best-regarded craft brewery, occupying a large brick building in the Old City neighbourhood. The brewing operation is visible from the taproom, which has high ceilings, communal tables, and a relaxed atmosphere that draws a mix of students, professionals, and visiting football fans on game days.
The beers lean toward accessible American styles — well-made IPAs, lagers, and seasonal offerings — but the quality is consistent. There is food to accompany the beer: wood-fired pizzas that are genuinely good. The outdoor patio is popular in warmer months.
