Globe Life Field

Globe Life Field is the home of the Texas Rangers, the American League baseball franchise, and opened in 2020 as the successor to the old Rangers Ballpark. The new stadium has a retractable roof — which matters considerably in Arlington, where summer temperatures regularly exceed 38°C — and can seat around 40,000 fans. The design is explicitly modelled on the classic ballparks of the early 20th century, with brick exterior and a traditional grass field.

The ballpark sits directly south of AT&T Stadium, close enough that you can walk between the two. Attending a Rangers game is one of the more enjoyable ways to spend a summer evening in the DFW area, particularly if you can get seats behind home plate under the roof with the air conditioning going. Tickets are generally reasonably priced and easy to come by except for rivalry games or playoff runs.

A story
Globe Life Field opened in 2020 and hosted its first World Series in the same year — the only World Series in history to be played entirely at a neutral site, as all games took place at the stadium due to COVID-19 protocols. The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Tampa Bay Rays in six games without playing a single game in either team's home city.
