Bastrop's historic downtown is compact, brick-built, and easy to pair with the parks. Main Street has the usual small-town mix of shops, cafes, and old commercial facades, while the county courthouse and nearby riverfront keep the centre anchored.
It is not a museum-piece downtown, and that helps. Come after a hike, walk a few blocks, then drop toward Fisherman's Park and the Colorado River.
