The East Texas Oil Museum recreates the boom years of the 1930s, when oil turned Kilgore and the surrounding pine country into a rush town. Its centrepiece is a full-scale version of a muddy main street, backed by displays on drilling, geology, and daily life in the oil field.
It sits on the Kilgore College campus and is the one Kilgore sight worth making time for if you are passing through.
