Woody Guthrie lived in Pampa in the 1930s, bought his first guitar here, and began the musical life that later carried him far beyond the Panhandle. This small center in the old Harris Drug building keeps that local chapter visible with memorabilia, stories, and occasional music events.
It is a modest stop, but a good one if Guthrie's songs mean anything to you. The link between his dust-bowl voice and the flat country around Pampa is not hard to feel.
