Concho River Walk

10 miles of riverside parks, public art, and trails through downtown

The Concho River Walk is the city's best public space — a system of riverside parks and paved trails that threads roughly ten miles along the Concho River through the heart of San Angelo. Unlike the famous River Walk in San Antonio, this one is quiet, flat, and genuinely local: joggers, cyclists, dog-walkers, and families with children rather than tourist crowds. Public art is scattered throughout, and several plazas along the route make good picnic spots.

The most pleasant stretch runs through the central section near Fort Concho and the Museum of Fine Arts, where the river banks are shaded with mature trees and the views across the water are genuinely pretty. The walk also passes beneath the Santa Fe rail bridge, a remnant of the town's cattle-shipping era. If you are in San Angelo for a day, an early-morning walk along the river is the best way to get a feel for the city.
