Mia Bella Trattoria

A longtime Italian restaurant on the Waterway with a terrace that overlooks the canal. The menu covers the Italian-American classics well — handmade pasta, osso buco, tiramisu — without much ambition beyond executing them correctly. The outdoor terrace is the reason to come; sit inside in summer when the heat makes the patio miserable.

Tends to fill up before concerts at the Pavilion. Reservations advisable on show nights.

A story
The Waterway location means you can sit on the terrace and watch gondolas drift by while eating pasta. That's a strange sentence to write about Texas, but here we are. The Italian-American menu is traditional and reliably good.
