Brian Head Resort is the winter reason to keep Cedar City on the map. The ski area sits high in the Markagunt Plateau east of town, with lift-served slopes in winter and mountain biking and hiking when the snow melts.
It is not a giant Rocky Mountain resort, but it is a useful and scenic one, especially for travellers combining southern Utah's canyon parks with a cold-weather detour.
