Old First Church is one of Vermont's most graceful early meeting houses, built in 1805 at the edge of the Old Bennington green. Its white clapboard, tall windows, and spare proportions are New England at its most composed.
The churchyard is as important as the building. Revolutionary War figures, Vermont governors, and Robert Frost are buried here, making the cemetery a quiet walk through the state's early history and literary memory.
