The Three Penny is the Montpelier beer bar — twenty-odd taps with a heavy emphasis on Vermont breweries (Hill Farmstead, Lawson's, Burlington Beer Co.) and a kitchen that turns out an excellent burger and good fries. It is also one of the few places in town that stays lively into the evening.
The room is narrow and brick-walled, with a long bar on one side and a dozen tables on the other. Quiz nights and live music midweek; weekend nights it fills up.
