Captains Row and Gentry Row are among Old Town Alexandria's most atmospheric residential blocks, lined with Federal-style houses built for merchants, sea captains, and other early city elites. Cobblestones, brick sidewalks, and closely packed facades give the streets much of their charm.
They are best visited as part of a slow walk through Old Town, especially between King Street, the waterfront, and the Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum.
