Getting There

Alexandria is directly on the Washington Metro's Blue and Yellow lines — King Street station is the most useful stop for Old Town, and the journey from downtown DC takes under 20 minutes. Trains run frequently throughout the day.

By car, Alexandria is eight miles from central Washington via the George Washington Memorial Parkway or I-395. Driving is straightforward but parking in Old Town can be difficult on weekends; the Metro is the better option. Amtrak serves Alexandria's King Street station with trains on the Northeast Corridor and routes south and west.
