Middleburg Historic District

Compact National Register district along Washington Street, at the heart of Virginia hunt country.

Middleburg Historic District follows the old commercial core along Washington and Madison streets. The district is small, but it carries much of the town's appeal: Federal-style houses, churches, stone storefronts, and a street pattern that still reads as a turnpike village.

Walk it slowly, with time for shop windows and side streets. The district is not a museum set piece, but a lived-in main street where Middleburg's moneyed horse-country polish meets its older stagecoach history.
