The bars and cafes are concentrated in the same City Market grid as the restaurants. Downtown leans toward independent coffee shops and craft beer; the Grandin Village west of downtown has a mellow row of pubs, a wine bar, and the city's most-loved old movie theatre. Local breweries are open as taprooms with simple food and outdoor seating, and several of them have become Friday-evening destinations in their own right.
