The Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center is the sensible first stop. Its exhibits lay out the 1781 campaign, the Franco-American alliance, and the siege lines before you drive or walk the battlefield itself.
Pick up the park map here and ask about ranger talks. The battlefield covers more ground than first-time visitors expect, and a little context makes the redoubts, artillery positions, and open fields far more vivid.
