Lake Sammamish State Park sits at the southern end of the lake on the northwest edge of Issaquah, where the creek empties out. It is a good summer escape: two swimming beaches, picnic lawns, boat launches, and a couple of walking trails through restored wetlands.
Sunday Park in July sees the place fill with families and Hawaiian barbecues. Winter is quiet and birdy — herons and bald eagles work the shallows.
