From Seattle, you can reach the peninsula by ferry via Bainbridge Island or Bremerton, or drive south through Tacoma and around the bottom of Puget Sound. The ferry approach is slower but much more memorable.
US-101 is the main loop road. It does not cut across the Olympic Mountains, so distances around the peninsula are real; plan in hours, not miles.
