Barrackville Covered Bridge is a compact but photogenic 19th-century bridge over Buffalo Creek north of Fairmont. Built in 1853 by Eli and Lemuel Chenoweth, it is valued for its modified Burr truss construction and for surviving close to its original form.
There is not a long visit here; the bridge is a short heritage stop for travellers driving through Marion County or exploring Fairmont's smaller historic sites. Its appeal is in the craftsmanship, the rural setting, and the way it connects present-day West Virginia back to the creek crossings and turnpike routes of the 1800s.
