Big Bend Golf Course occupies the western bank of the Coal River below the falls. It's a local nine-hole course, nothing fancy, but set in a genuinely attractive river valley with the Appalachian ridgeline as a backdrop. The bend in the river that gives the course its name wraps around part of the fairways, which keeps golfers on their toes.
Green fees are modest by any standard. It's the kind of course where you don't need to book far in advance, and you're as likely to share the course with coal miners on their days off as with visiting golfers.
