Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary

Free urban wildlife sanctuary with native animals and nature trails on Green Bay

Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary is a 700-acre urban nature preserve on the shore of Green Bay, operated by the city as a free public attraction. It holds a collection of native Wisconsin wildlife — white-tailed deer, coyotes, raptors, otters, and black bears among others — in large naturalistic enclosures, along with walking trails through restored wetlands and woodland. It is designed for wildlife that cannot survive in the wild due to injuries or human imprinting.

The admission is free (donations accepted), which makes it a genuine local treasure. The naturalist staff offer educational programs, and the sanctuary is particularly good for families. Adjacent Bay Beach Amusement Park, open in summer, has old-fashioned rides at very low prices.
