Ice Age National Scenic Trail

The Ice Age Trail is one of only eleven National Scenic Trails in the United States, and it runs 1,200 miles end to end across Wisconsin, tracing the maximum extent of the last continental glacier. The section through the Northern Kettle Moraine — most of it within a short drive of Kewaskum — is one of the most varied stretches, weaving past kettle ponds, over eskers, and along the spines of moraines.

Day-hikers usually pick a 5- to 10-mile section between road crossings rather than tackling the through-hike. The Parnell Tower segment, a few miles north of Kewaskum, includes a short climb to a wooden observation tower with views across the moraine. Trail markers are yellow blazes; printed maps are available from the Ice Age Trail Alliance.
