New Dublin St. Patrick's Day

Every year around St. Patrick's Day, New London formally renames itself "New Dublin" and holds what has grown into Wisconsin's largest St. Patrick's Day parade — a tradition that runs for a full week of Irish-themed events including an Irish ceili (a social dance gathering), live music, corned beef and cabbage on every menu in town, and a general civic embrace of all things green and Irish.

The parade runs through downtown and draws participants and spectators from across northeastern Wisconsin. The week's events have evolved over the decades to include 5k runs, pub crawls, and a range of family activities alongside the traditional parade. If you are anywhere in the Fox Valley in mid-March, it's worth a visit.

A story
New London has been celebrating St. Patrick's Day as "New Dublin" since 1980, a tradition started by the local chamber of commerce as a way to boost the economy during the slow early spring weeks. What began as a modest marketing stunt became one of Wisconsin's largest St. Patrick's Day celebrations, with the parade alone drawing tens of thousands of visitors from across the Fox Valley and beyond.
