The Paine is Oshkosh's most graceful surprise: a 1920s mansion and garden estate built with the ambition of an English country house. The interiors, woodwork, galleries, and changing exhibitions make it more than a pretty building.
The gardens are a real part of the visit, especially in the warmer months. Pairing the Paine with the EAA Aviation Museum gives Oshkosh a nice contrast: polished old-world rooms in the morning, aircraft and hangars in the afternoon.
