The Deke Slayton Memorial Space and Bicycle Museum sounds unlikely until you know Sparta. Upstairs, it honours Donald "Deke" Slayton, the Sparta-born Mercury Seven astronaut, while also telling the town's bicycle story with historic bikes and transport exhibits.
The building is part of the downtown museum complex. Check access before going if stairs are a problem.
