The Upper Dells boat tour is the classic way to see the gorge north of town. Boats pass sandstone cliffs, the Narrows, and named formations, with shore landings that usually include Witches Gulch and Stand Rock.
It is touristy, but not fake. The scenery is what first made Wisconsin Dells famous, and the river gives you the best angle on it.
