The chapel contains a mural painted by Edward T. Grigware in 1951 that wraps around all four walls and the ceiling, depicting the history of the LDS Church in the American West in continuous panoramic detail. The scale and ambition of the work is unusual for a small Wyoming chapel — Grigware was a professionally trained illustrator who brought commercial narrative techniques to a devotional subject, and the result is something more like a painted history book than conventional religious art.
The chapel is open to visitors and admission is free. It takes about 30 minutes to work through the full mural properly, following the narrative from left to right around the room. The ceiling sections require neck-craning. Even for visitors with no particular interest in LDS history, the mural is a serious piece of mid-century American illustrative painting that happens to be in a chapel in Wyoming.
