Jenny Lake

Jenny Lake is the most scenic of Grand Teton's lakes, fed by Cascade Creek from the canyon above and hemmed in by the sheer walls of the Teton peaks on its western shore. A 12-km walking trail circumnavigates the lake; the ferry service that crosses to the western shore cuts the hiking distance roughly in half and is very popular.

From the western landing, the Cascade Canyon Trail leads up into the mountains — the most heavily used trail in the park, and justifiably so. The canyon is U-shaped, glacially carved, with rock walls rising 600 metres on each side and views up to the summits above. Most hikers go as far as the canyon entrance before turning back (3 km from the ferry); more ambitious walkers can continue to Hidden Falls, Inspiration Point, or all the way up to the Hurricane Pass. Wildlife along the trail includes black bears, pikas, marmots, and golden eagles. The ferry operates from mid-May to late September.
