Cuesta de Miranda is the scenic road east from Villa Unión toward Chilecito, where Ruta 40 bends through red rock and dry mountain folds. It is one of those drives where the route is the sight.
Allow time for pullouts and slow curves rather than treating it as a transfer. The colours are best when the sun is low enough to give the ridges some shape.
