Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception

The cathedral on the eastern side of Plaza 25 de Mayo is the obvious architectural landmark of Reconquista — a brick and stucco façade in a late-19th-century neo-classical style, with twin bell towers flanking the central pediment. It is the seat of the Diocese of Reconquista, created in 1957 from territory previously belonging to the Diocese of Santa Fe.

The interior is plain in the way of provincial Argentine churches, with painted plaster vaults and a long centre aisle. Worth stepping inside if it happens to be open — Mass times are the most reliable way to find the doors unlocked.
