Puente Viejo is the old bridge across the Areco River and the town's most useful short walk. Cross it from the centre and the setting changes quickly: riverbank, trees, and the open ground around Parque Criollo and the gaucho museum.
It is not a grand bridge, but it is the right hinge for Areco. The view back toward town helps explain why the place feels more like a rural capital of tradition than a suburb of Buenos Aires.
