Cavalcante is remote. The nearest international airport is Brasília, about 470 km south on a good federal highway (BR-020 and then GO-118). The drive takes six to seven hours and the final stretch — from Alto Paraíso to Cavalcante — is paved but slow, with potholes that demand attention.
There is no airport at Cavalcante itself. Real Expresso runs daily buses from Brasília to Alto Paraíso de Goiás, with onward connections two or three times a week to Cavalcante. Most travellers rent a car in Brasília or join a tour package.
Once in Cavalcante, a four-wheel-drive is essential for the dirt roads to Engenho II, Santa Bárbara, and most of the waterfalls.
