Lula Beach is one of the small coves that makes a Paraty boat day worthwhile: pale sand, forest pressing close behind, and water that often turns the colour of green glass. It is not a city beach, and that is the point; you reach it as part of the island-and-bay rhythm that defines the coast here.
It can get busy when several schooners arrive at once, so do not expect solitude. Still, for swimming and a classic Paraty view of Atlantic forest dropping into sheltered water, it earns its place on the list.
