Itamambuca

Long northern Ubatuba beach known for surf breaks, preserved surroundings, and river-meets-sea scenery.

Itamambuca is the beach that gives Ubatuba much of its surf reputation. It lies about 15 km north of the centre, where the Itamambuca River reaches the sea and the sand opens to consistent waves. The setting is still green enough to feel removed from town, even though there is a condominium area behind the beach.

Come for surfing, a long walk, or simply to see why Ubatuba is taken seriously by Brazilian surfers. The sea can be rough, so families with small children usually do better at calmer southern beaches.
