Sendero Macuco

Jungle trail in Iguazú National Park leading toward a forest waterfall.

Sendero Macuco is the Iguazú walk for travellers who want forest as well as waterfalls. The trail runs through subtropical jungle away from the busiest viewpoints, with chances for birds, butterflies, coatis and the humid green density that makes the falls feel like part of a living park.

The path is straightforward but still hot and exposed to weather, so carry water and insect repellent. It is a good way to stretch the day beyond the classic circuits and to remember that Iguazú is not only a viewpoint machine.
