The Farol das Conchas — "Lighthouse of the Shells" — is a small iron-frame lighthouse built in 1872 on the highest point of the island's narrow waist. The climb up the wooden steps takes ten minutes and rewards you with a 360-degree view: the open Atlantic to the east, the mangroves and bay to the west, and the long curve of beach in both directions.
It is the easiest viewpoint on the island and the obvious end-of-day walk from Nova Brasília. The path is well marked and the round trip from the village takes about an hour. Bring water; there is no shop at the top.
