Madalozo is one of the best-known places in town to try barreado, the dark, slow-cooked beef stew that makes Morretes a food stop for people from Curitiba. It is usually served with cassava flour, rice, banana, and hot sauce.
The place is large and geared to day-trippers, so don't expect intimacy. Come for the local ritual: train, river walk, heavy lunch, slow afternoon.
